Rapid City is the only real city of the area and as such has all the trappings that brings good and bad.

Our kids enjoyed playing on and around the concrete dinosaurs on a hill top overlooking the city. You can see one of them in this picture.

We all enjoyed a visit to the Reptile Gardens zoo south of the city. We had a nice meal in an old Fire Station converted to a micro brewery in the city centre. We also went to a barbeque and coutry and western show at a ranch just past the Reptile Gardens south of the city.



A highlight of our stay in this area was a visit to the Cosmos Mystery Area. This is a few miles south of Rapid City and well worth a visit. They claim there is a mysterious power in the ground, I suspect its a series of optical illusions, nevertheless it is an excellent experience. You can see water flowing uphill as in this picture, people apparently changing height and you are powerfully disoriented in the tumble down shack. Great fun.
